From a Small Town to Big Dreams
I’ve always known that there was more to the world than the small, secluded town where I grew up in Mindanao, Philippines. Life in our town was simple—too simple, in fact, for someone like me who was filled with curiosity and dreams bigger than the hills and seas that surrounded us.
Growing up, modern conveniences were not as easily accessible. The fast-paced urban life, the latest trends, and cutting-edge technology were worlds away from our quiet existence. But in the quiet corners of my little town, my imagination thrived. I dreamed of the world beyond.
It was during these formative years that I discovered the power of books and articles. The pages of National Geographic opened my eyes to faraway places, their people, and their landscapes. I read about bustling cities, breathtaking natural wonders, and cultures so different from mine. I could feel the pulse of the world in every article I devoured.
Alongside these, I found other books like HOME and Bato Balani, which nurtured my growing interest in the world around me. These were not just words on paper; they were windows to a bigger, more vibrant world. They made me realize that, although I was born into a life of simplicity, I didn’t have to live small in my mind. There was a vast, beautiful world out there, and I wanted to explore it.
I started dreaming big. I wanted to tell my own stories and share them with others.
Fast forward to today, and I’ve finally gathered the courage to take that leap. After acquiring my domain name, I’ve spent months—years, even—wondering when the right time would come to start writing. And it’s only now, with a mix of excitement and nervous energy, that I’m finally publishing my thoughts. This blog is my first step in connecting with you, sharing my journey, and hopefully inspiring others to dream big too.
Starting this blog is not just about writing for the sake of writing. It’s about breaking out of the constraints that once held me back—both physically and mentally—and embracing the possibility of something bigger.
So, here I am, sharing this part of my journey. This is just the beginning, but I’m excited to see where it takes me—and, hopefully, you too.
